MNEME | Aegina, Greece

MNEME is a photographic investigation of Paleochora, a medieval hillside settlement on the island of Aegina, where ecclesiastical and vernacular architecture articulate the stratification of history.

The project conceives heritage not as a static relic but as a performative and evolving process, activated in situ. The settlement evokes a sense of suspended occupation, drawing attention to architectural surfaces, material decay, and the subtle inscriptions of time.

Light is employed as an operational element, mediating a continuous dialogue between past and present. Rooted in the classical Greek notion of mneme (memory), the work situates the viewer within a phenomenological encounter, enacting a lived experience of Greek cultural and historical continuity.
